Heart of the Possible Campaign

The Boys and Girls Club of Saint John has embarked on our first major campaign to address the need for innovative programming and services. Our Club programs are designed to encourage diversity, adventure, imagination and creativity. Our intent is to prepare our children & youth to meet the future with confidence, optimism and excitement.

By focusing on the positive potential of every child, we nurture young people’s self-esteem and engage them in activities that challenge and enrich their minds, bodies and spirits. We have many highly committed and talented volunteers who are participating in our programs, inspiring our children and being inspired in the process. Together, they are growing and preparing their own food, learning to play a musical instrument, finding their creative edge through art or expanding their emotional resilience through “Horse Wisdom” – no matter the activity, the youth are learning more about themselves and their possibilities.

We are making a positive difference with the “Heart of the Possible” and we are honoured for you to join us to change a life forever. On behalf of the Board of Directors, the children and youth who benefit from the Club’s programs, and their families, thank you for your support.

Our Vision:

• To improve our facilities and infrastructure to ensure safety, energy efficiency and ongoing traditional programs

• To expand Heart of the Possible Programming in art, music, theatre, environment, nutrition, wellness and fitness

• To provide new opportunities to make a difference in the lives of our children and youth.

Our Boys and Girls Club serves over 2,200 children and youth from several hundred families in the greater Saint John area annually, --- 350 children and youth come to our Club daily!  We provide them with a safe, supportive place where they can experience new opportunities, overcome barriers, build positive relationships and develop confidence and skills for life. Our Club offers affordable, relevant and accessible programs during critical out-of-school hours when children and youth are most at risk. Approximately 60% of our youth are from single parent families.

With one in three young people living in poverty in Saint John, there is a need to level the playing field so that all children and youth have opportunities to develop to their fullest potential. Our Club addresses this need by offering fun, challenging experiences and opportunities that teach children and youth about the importance of healthy living, personal growth, education, and community involvement. Our Club takes a preventative approach to tackling a broad range of critical issues facing children and youth which include: fitness; education; nutrition; safety; outdoor adventure; youth employment, violence, sexuality, homelessness, leadership development and substance abuse.

Our staff and volunteers are fully committed to ensuring that each and every child who walks through our doors feels valued, supported and welcomed into the Boys & Girls Club family, regardless of their ability to pay.

Today’s generation of children and youth are facing some of the most serious environmental, social, political and economic challenges in recent memory. Our Club plays a critical role in the development of the next generation of young people. Our community will be stronger when our children are expanding their abilities, demonstrating their commitment to being productive, participative members of our society.  Our Club remains strong, focused and positive, knowing that we make a difference in the lives of our children, youth and families.  We believe that given opportunity and encouragement, greatness is achieved when we all work together.
